Begins January 11, 2028
You’re already coaching neurodivergent clients. Some will have told you. Some won’t. Others may simply seem “difficult” – chaotic, resistant, stuck in their head, or mysteriously unable to do the simple next step you agreed on together.
A lot of standard coaching assumes insight leads to action and a good open question produces clarity. With ADHD, autistic and AuDHD clients, the same approach can instead create pressure, shame or shutdown.
This semester is about making the coaching fit the human in front of you, not the other way round. You’ll learn to:
- Recognise when apparent resistance may be overload, masking, shutdown or executive-function strain
- Adapt your questions, pacing, session structure, goals and accountability
- Work more intelligently with attention, sensory and cognitive load, motivation and follow-through
- Use embodied regulation and co-regulation without making things unnecessarily weird
- Stay clearly within coaching scope, and know when referral is the better call
You’ll work with two practical frameworks – State-Interest-Step and Load-Mask-Clarity – that give you somewhere useful to look before deciding a client just needs more discipline or another clever question.
I want to be direct about the limits here too: this isn’t diagnostic or therapy training, and it won’t qualify you to diagnose ADHD, autism or AuDHD. It builds coaching skill – recognising, adapting, pacing and referring – not diagnostic ability.
The point is to coach the nervous system actually in front of you, not the imaginary standard client from the textbook.
