Why embodiment coaching works

Talking brings insight. The body makes change stick.

Works under pressure (talk‑only doesn’t)

  • When people are stressed, old habits take over and their options shrink. The body changes that.
  • Insight alone rarely survives real‑life stress, but embodied changes do.
  • Body‑first tools keep clients calm and present so sessions move forward.

Adding the body changes outcomes

  • Fast regulation (using breath, posture, gaze) allows clients to settle in seconds.
  • Simple practices between sessions embed new habits so they stick.
  • Better noticing of body signals allow clients to catch triggers early and make better choices.

We make it stick in practice

  • Weekly live practice with feedback leads to deep confidence.
  • You'll have clear competence criteria + a short recorded exam so you know what “good” looks like.
  • Real client demos + accountable support means you'll know how to apply in practice.

What embodiment leaders say

Respected voices on why embodied, trauma-aware practice matters — and how CEC turns principles into practical coaching tools.

Headshot of Dr Gabor Maté

Gabor Maté, MD

Physician & Author

“Embodiment is an essential component of healing, and Embodiment Unlimited does valuable work bringing its importance to the public. I have enjoyed working with this innovative organisation.”

So what? CEC makes embodiment a foundational, trauma-aware practice coaches can apply immediately.

Headshot of Dr Stephen Porges

Stephen Porges, PhD

Originator, Polyvagal Theory

“Challenges to our safety make us strangers in our own body. Embodiment Unlimited provides important resources informing individuals about practices leading to an effective ‘re-embodiment’ that enhances mental and physical health.”

So what? CEC trains re-embodiment tools that help clients regulate and build safety, aligned with the Polyvagal perspective.

Headshot of Jamie Catto

Jamie Catto

Author & Facilitator

“The embodied work Mark and the team do is both creative and practical. As a facilitator I get a lot from teaching alongside them and love the mix of humour and pragmatism.”

So what? Expect an approach that’s creative and grounded, with pragmatic skills you can use in rooms with real people.

Why I love this course… and two warnings

“Training embodiment coaches is my core work. It’s what I do, and what my company has been doing best for some years. I’m not good at much, but we can train embodiment coaches pretty damn well!”

I do a lot of other things, too: trauma education in Ukraine, corporate jobs, and I lead a young men’s mental health group. But coach training has been my bread and butter for years. I wrote the book on it, led the biggest conference, and host the longest-running podcast on embodiment coaching. I love it.

My mission is simple: I want a saner, kinder, more embodied world. I believe coaches are key to that, but only well-trained ones. That takes work. We’ve made it efficient – a six-month journey – but it only works if people show up and put the time in (about 5–6 hours a week).

Two warnings
  • We have a unique style – practical but playful. If you’re looking for something ultra-spiritual or super “woke,” we’re not it.
  • If you’re easily offended or have your head in the clouds, this won’t be for you. We make bad jokes, sometimes swear, and keep it real.

That said, you won’t find a better embodiment coaching course, and we have real experience in what’s become a crowded market *waves to Bali/Instagram*. If you’re ready to learn, grow, and laugh along the way, I hope to see you on the Certification of Embodiment Coaching.”

FAQ

Quick, straight answers about the Certification of Embodiment Coaching (CEC).

What is embodiment coaching?

Coaching that works with mind and body together. Beyond talk alone, we use simple state-shifters (breath, posture, gaze, micro-moves) so clients regulate under pressure, learn faster, and turn insight into action. (if you speak German, you may also see terms like Embodiment Coaching or Embodiment Ausbildung.)

How do I become an embodiment coach?

Train the skills, practise them live, and get assessed. CEC is a 6-month, practice-heavy embodiment coach training (Embodiment Coaching Ausbildung online) with a short recorded assessment and feedback so you finish competent, safe and confident.

Is this a somatic coaching certification online? Is it recognised by ICF?

Yes. CEC is a live, online programme that builds embodied & somatic coaching skills (Somatic Coaching Ausbildung). You also get 37 ICF Continuing Coach Education (CCE) hours for credential renewal (Core Competencies + Resource Development).

When are sessions? How much attendance is required?

We run three slots across time-zones (UK primary; ET/PT/AEDT shown). Tuesdays are mandatory (choose one slot each week); 80% live attendance on Tuesdays is required to certify. Replays are provided for other sessions.

See the schedule for exact times and the 27-week outline. (DE: häufig gesucht als Coaching Ausbildung online mit festen Zeitzonen und Aufzeichnungen.)

What does the exam involve?

A short recorded coaching session assessed against a clear rubric. You’ll get feedback and, if needed, support until you meet the standard (see our competence guarantee).

What’s your competence guarantee?

We give clear criteria, feedback, and the chance to resubmit your short recorded assessment if needed so you finish competent and confident. There’s no extra fee for a resubmission within the course window.

How heavy is the workload? Handouts and homework?

Plan for ~5–6 hours/week: live sessions, peer practice groups, and short integration tasks. You’ll get simple handouts and checklists; we keep admin light so you can focus on coaching. (DE: Ausbildung mit klaren Unterlagen und leichtem Homework.)

I have a trauma history — is CEC suitable?

CEC is trauma-aware and teaches clear scope and safety. It’s not therapy. If you’re currently unstable or in acute distress, focus on healing first; we can advise appropriate next steps. (DE: trauma-informiertes Coaching – sicher & professionell.)

Are sessions recorded? Will I get replays?

Yes - sessions are recorded and available as replays so you can stay on track if life happens. (DE: Aufzeichnungen stehen zeitlich begrenzt zur Verfügung.)

Is CEC for everyone?

We’re practical, human and a bit cheeky. If you want ultra-spiritual or hyper-theoretical, this won’t be your cup of tea. If you like real-world skills, honest feedback and a supportive community, you’ll love it.

Can I use CEC tools in my own coaching without crediting every time?

Yes. Use them freely with your clients. Attribution is appreciated in public trainings, but not required in your 1-to-1 coaching.

Are there extra fees, books, or classes I have to buy?

There are a few "required" books to read, and you are required to do some practice experiments to test out different aspects of embodiment. We work with teachers as we can to offer free trial classes, but you may be required to pay for some (e.g. a yoga class or martial arts class, for example).

Can my employer fund CEC?

Yes — CEC counts for CPD/ICF renewal. Ask your manager about learning budgets; we provide invoices/receipts and a simple approval template.

When you’re ready, head to pricing — the employer pack is on the checkout page.

Habt ihr Unterstützung auf Deutsch? (Embodiment Coaching Ausbildung)

Ja.

What happens after I join?

You’ll get a confirmation email, platform access, and your pre-recorded bonuses. We are currently in the process of creating a new, updated CEC community platform, so we'll let you know when that is ready, too.
