Coach beyond just words by working with the body

A 6-month live online certification. Support clients to transform their lives through nervous system informed embodiment coaching.

Tap for sound

“CEC had a huge impact by giving me tools that made my coaching so much more powerful.” — Fabiana Legradic, Coach (Switzerland)

Why embodiment coaching works

Talking brings insight. The body makes change usable under stress.

Under stress, people revert to old patterns. That’s why we work with state: clients regain choice. You’ll learn to do this through weekly practice and feedback.

For your clients

It works when people are stressed

  • Under pressure, people default to old patterns - logic alone doesn’t hold.
  • Body-first tools help clients regulate, so they can stay present and choose.
  • Sessions stop being “nice chats” and start creating visible shifts.

New habits stick between sessions

  • Small, practical exercises turn insight into behaviour (not just understanding).
  • Clients catch triggers earlier and recover faster, without forcing themselves.
  • Progress becomes less dependent on the coaching hour.

How you learn it

How you’ll learn this in CEC

  • Weekly live practice with feedback, so confidence comes from doing it.
  • Clear standards and a short recorded assessment so you’re not guessing.
  • Real demos and accountable support so you can apply this immediately with clients.

Watch a short demo:

From theory to confident embodied coaching in 6 months

A live, practical programme built around practice, feedback and clear standards - so you’re not guessing. By the end, you’ll be able to coach beyond words, using embodied, trauma-aware tools with real people.

By the end of CEC you’ll be able to

  • Run embodied coaching sessions that help clients regulate and move forward.
  • Use simple body-first tools safely (without pushing people past their edge).
  • Meet clear competence criteria and graduate certified.
CEC 6-month arc at a glance - topics and session flow
6-month arc - foundations → practice → feedback → certification.

Months 1-2 - Foundations

Regulation tools, embodied listening, core coaching moves, and trauma-aware boundaries.

Months 3-4 - Application

Weekly practice, peer groups, and feedback - applying tools with real humans, not theory.

Months 5-6 - Integration and certification

Clear standards, recorded assessment, and support to graduate confident and competent.

Weekly live practice - not passive learning

Practise in breakouts every session and again in peer groups, so skill becomes embodied (not conceptual).

Support that keeps you going (84% completion)

Small groups plus course-manager support create accountability - and it’s why most people actually finish.

Clear standards - so you’re not guessing

Competence criteria, demos and a short recorded assessment show you what “good” looks like.

Client-ready tools from week one

Simple body-based techniques and micro-practices clients can use between sessions, so change sticks outside the call.

Who it’s for

Built for people who work with clients (or want to) and want somatic, trauma-aware tools that hold up under stress. Expect weekly practice, feedback, and clear standards.

Mark coaching a participant in a professional session

Best fit

  • You want to coach beyond talk - working with state and choice
  • You care about safety, ethics, and real-world application
  • You will actually practise (this is training, not information)
Embodied posture demonstrated in a small group

Also a fit

  • You work with people via teaching, training, facilitation or leadership
  • You want practical tools clients can use between sessions
  • You want a recognised framework and clear assessment standards
Person walking outdoors, reflective moment

Probably not a fit

  • You want a quick certificate without practice and feedback
  • You want therapy training (CEC is coaching, not clinical)
  • You’re in acute crisis and need stabilisation first

What you’ll walk away with

A professional, trauma-aware coaching certification built around practice and clear standards. You won’t just learn tools - you’ll learn how to use them with real clients.

37 ICF CCE hours - keep your credential current

Counts towards ICF renewal (Core Competencies + Resource Development). Even if you’re not ICF-tracked, it’s a recognised quality marker.

Live training for 6 months - so it lands in your body

A steady weekly rhythm (Feb–Aug) with three time-zone options - practice, feedback, and integration, not just watching videos.

A real assessment - graduate competent, not just ‘certified’

Record a short session to clear criteria and get feedback. You finish knowing you can do this safely, not hoping you can.

A clear curriculum - always know what’s next

Progress from core embodied skills to client application, step by step - so you’re not improvising your way through learning.

A wide toolkit - adapt to different clients

Draw from 10+ modalities to develop a grounded coaching style - without getting stuck in one method or one “right way”.

A global practice community - you won’t learn alone

Peer practice groups plus team support in a culturally aware, multilingual environment - so you get reps, not just ideas.

Meet the CEC team

A faculty of coaches, somatic educators and trauma-aware practitioners. You’ll learn from people who do this work in the real world - and can teach it clearly.

“A total game-changer for me and my coaching practice. It’s by far the most valuable training investment I’ve made.” — Steve Litchfield, Coach (UK)

What embodiment leaders say

Respected voices on why embodied, trauma-aware practice matters — and how CEC turns principles into practical coaching tools.

Headshot of Dr Gabor Maté

Gabor Maté, MD

Physician & Author

“Embodiment is an essential component of healing, and Embodiment Unlimited does valuable work bringing its importance to the public. I have enjoyed working with this innovative organisation.”

So what? CEC makes embodiment a foundational, trauma-aware practice coaches can apply immediately.

Headshot of Dr Stephen Porges

Stephen Porges, PhD

Originator, Polyvagal Theory

“Challenges to our safety make us strangers in our own body. Embodiment Unlimited provides important resources informing individuals about practices leading to an effective ‘re-embodiment’ that enhances mental and physical health.”

So what? CEC trains re-embodiment tools that help clients regulate and build safety, aligned with the Polyvagal perspective.

Headshot of Jamie Catto

Jamie Catto

Author & Facilitator

“The embodied work Mark and the team do is both creative and practical. As a facilitator I get a lot from teaching alongside them and love the mix of humour and pragmatism.”

So what? Expect an approach that’s creative and grounded, with pragmatic skills you can use in rooms with real people.

Why I love running CEC

Training embodiment coaches is my core work. It’s what we do best.

My mission is simple A saner, kinder, more embodied world. That starts with coaches who can actually help build it.

CEC is built to be practical. You’ll practise, get feedback, and leave with tools you can use with real people.

Note that we’re practical and a bit playful. If you want something ultra-spiritual or endlessly abstract, you’ll hate it.

Time-wise: plan for about 5-6 hours a week if you want the full benefit.

If you’re up for that, I hope to see you in CEC.

“Coaching became more precise and effective. Clients now achieve their goals in a shorter time and fewer sessions.” — Avi Peled, Coach and group facilitator (Israel)

FAQ

The practical questions people ask before joining CEC.

What if I cannot attend every session?

Life happens. Tuesdays are the one you need to prioritise - 80% live Tuesday attendance is required to certify. That means you can miss up to 20% and still qualify.

If you miss a Tuesday, you can watch the replay to keep up with the learning. Certification depends on meeting the attendance requirement and completing the assessment.

What if life goes sideways and I need to pause or defer?

If something big changes (health, family, work), email us as soon as you can. We’ll look at sensible options with you, including deferring certification to a later cohort where possible.

How heavy is the workload, really?

Plan for 5-6 hours a week on average. That includes a live session, peer practise, and short integration tasks.

We keep admin light. This is skills training - you learn by doing.

Are sessions recorded - and will I get replays?

Yes. Sessions are recorded and available as replays so you can stay on track if you miss something.

What does the assessment involve?

You submit a short recorded coaching session. It’s assessed against a clear rubric, and you get practical feedback on what to improve.

What exactly is your competence guarantee?

We don’t leave people guessing. You get clear criteria, feedback, and the chance to resubmit your recorded assessment if needed so you finish competent and confident.

There is no extra fee for resubmitting within the programme period.

I have a trauma history - is CEC suitable?

CEC is trauma-aware and teaches scope, safety, and ethics. It is not therapy.

If you are currently in acute distress or struggling to stay resourced day to day, prioritise stabilisation first. If you are unsure, email us and we will help you think it through.

Do you offer instalments or employer funding?

Yes - instalment plans are available at checkout, and we can provide an invoice and an employer pack for learning budgets.

CEC includes 37 ICF CCE hours, which can help with CPD and credential renewal.

How do graduates typically earn their tuition back?

We don’t make income promises. The straightforward version is: graduates usually use CEC to improve their results with existing clients, increase referrals, and/or offer more confident 1-to-1 work, workshops, or internal coaching.

What if I join and realise it is not a good fit?

Check the terms at checkout first - they include the formal policy on refunds or transfers.

If you are unsure before buying, email us and ask the awkward questions. We would rather help you make a clean decision than push you through the door.

Is CEC recognised - by ICF, employers, or insurance?

CEC provides 37 ICF Continuing Coach Education (CCE) hours for credential renewal (Core Competencies + Resource Development).

Employers vary - many accept it as CPD when you provide a syllabus and invoice (we do).

Insurance varies by provider and country. We can provide a certificate of completion and course details, but you’ll need to confirm requirements with your insurer.

What’s the teaching style like?

Practical, human, and a bit playful. You’ll practise a lot, get feedback, and we’ll keep it grounded.

Also: Mark occasionally swears. If that’s a hard no for you, better to skip this one.

Can I use CEC tools in my own coaching without crediting every time?

Yes. Use them with clients.

If you’re running public workshops, attribution is appreciated, but in 1-to-1 coaching it’s not required.

Are there extra fees, books, or classes I have to buy?

There are a few books we recommend (we’ll send a list). Some people source them second-hand or via a library.

Some practise experiments involve trying things in the real world. You can keep this low-cost, but you might choose to pay for an occasional class (for example yoga or martial arts). Nothing expensive is designed into the programme.

New here - what is embodiment coaching, in one paragraph?

Coaching that works with mind and body together. Beyond talk alone, we use simple state-shifters (breath, posture, gaze, micro-movement) so clients regulate under pressure, learn faster, and turn insight into action.

How do I become an embodiment coach?

Train the skills, practise them live, and get assessed. CEC is a 6-month, practice-heavy training with a short recorded assessment and feedback so you finish competent, safe and confident.

Is this a somatic coaching certification online? Is it recognised by ICF?

Yes. CEC is a live, online programme that builds embodied and somatic coaching skills. You also get 37 ICF Continuing Coach Education (CCE) hours for credential renewal (Core Competencies + Resource Development).

Habt ihr Unterstützung auf Deutsch? (Embodiment Coaching Ausbildung)

Ja.

What happens after I join?

You’ll get a confirmation email, platform access, and any relevant extras. If we update the community platform during your cohort, we’ll let you know when it’s ready.
